Stephano Gai prevented Marco Cioci from taking pole position for the second Ferrari Challenge race at Silverstone.

Max Blancardi was the first of the frontrunners to go top with 2m09.574s. Ferrari Moscow’s Gai, who was fourth in qualifying on Saturday morning, almost immediately bettered that effort, setting a benchmark time of 2m09.291s.

With five minutes to spare, out came World Endurance Championship regular Cioci. After topping the first session the Motor/Piacanza driver could not quite better Gai’s laptime. His best effort of 2m09.551s was only good enough for second.

Patrick Gobbo, who ended the first session in eighth, had a much better run and will line up fourth on the grid alongside Blancardi. Lorenzo Case failed to repeat his front row performance from earlier in the day, and was back in fifth.

Meanwhile Ferrari Moscow driver Alexey Basov netted his second pole position in the Coppa Shell, posting a best time of 2m10.576s.
