Aleksei Dudukalo Lukoil Racing’s Aleksei Dudukalo has incurred a post race 30 second penalty for colliding with Mehdi Bennani in the opening World Touring Car Championship race at Suzuka on Sunday morning.

The Russian closed the door on Bennani when the Proteam BMW driver attempted to pass on Dudukalo’s inside at Turn 3.

Dudukalo was fortunate to survive the contact and maintain position, but Bennani spun and subsequently pitted for repairs.

Dudukalo drops from sixth to 18th place after the imposition of the penalty, with ROAL Motorsport’s Tom Coronel promoted to sixth in his stead.

Race officials also handed 30-second penalties to James Nash and Alberto Cerqui for start infringements.

Arena racer Nash drops from 15th to 19th, while Alberto Cerqui retired following a spin at Turn 1 on lap 15.
